Hi! We're Alan & Annabel Cusack, potters and proud owners of Honeybourne Pottery. When we're not teaching or running the studio, we’re busy designing and making tableware from our beautiful countryside workshop. Our work is refined yet relaxed, balancing elegance with a natural feel. Specialising in both wheel-thrown and slab-built pottery, we use high-fired stoneware clay, hand-glazed and fired to over 1200°C. Every piece is crafted entirely by hand, embracing the slow, mindful process that makes ceramics so special.
Our goal is to create timeless, beautifully made pieces - everyday treasures that bring joy to your home and those of your friends and loved ones. We hope the care and craftsmanship behind each item shines through.
OUR STORY
Ten years ago, we were living very different lives in London - Alan as a city banker, and Annabel in fashion. Yet life has a funny way of circling back to where you’re meant to be. For Annabel, pottery was always part of her story. Growing up, she cherished hours spent with hands in clay, learning from her parents, who were potters themselves. That early connection to ceramics never left her, and shaped the path we’d one day take together.
Our shared journey with clay began with evening classes - a creative escape from our busy careers. What started as a weekly highlight soon became destined to be more when Annabel's parents retired from pottery in 2014. With more hope than certainty, we traded city life for the North Cotswolds. Running a creative business has brought challenges, but even more reasons to be grateful we took that leap. Watching students discover the same joy we find in clay never gets old!
We’re incredibly proud and blessed to carry on Honeybourne Pottery while writing our own chapter. Today, our expanded studio hums with creative energy. What started with two humble potter’s wheels has grown to twenty (and counting!), a beautiful light-filled studio space we've carefully renovated and an ever expanding calendar of classes and courses.
Though we work harder than ever, we feel incredibly fortunate to do what we love. Between sharing our craft, nurturing the business, and raising our young family, we constantly pinch ourselves! We can't wait to see what forms the next chapter will take!
